Danish tech startup Conferize gets major investment boost / by Jesper Vestergaard

Conferize, a Danish tech startup and event platform has received an investment of USD 2.4 M. The investment is lead by two of Denmark’s most powerful business profiles and will help further the startup’s ambition of becoming a major global player within the event industry.

Two influential investors – Former Group CEO and Co-owner of Falck, Allan Søgaard Larsen and serial investor and former Group CEO of Oticon, Lars Kolind – have taken part in ensuring Conferize’s USD 2.4 M investment.

Conferize offers a social event platform that seeks to challenge and develop the global event and conference industry. The core of Conferize’s new approach is a cloud-based Event Management System, which enables event organizers to easily organize their events with a free of charge all-in-one solution – whilst providing attendees with new digital ways of sharing knowledge and building communities around the events.

With the investment, Allan Søgaard Larsen steps in as President of the Board of Conferize. He sees a strong potential in Conferize’s solution:

“In my opinion, developing and operating an Event Management System creates significant value, as it makes it easier to organize social events. Moreover, participants and speakers are able to share knowledge and create strong networks across channels – not just during the actual event, but also before and after”, says Allan Søgaard Larsen.

Up until now, event organizers from over 120 countries around the world have used Conferize’s platform – a ‘Software as a Service’ solution which has developed rapidly since the company’s foundation in 2012. Forbes has compared Conferize with Twitter and LinkedIn, highlighting the platform as a welcome alternative tool within the professional event market.

Lead investor, Lars Kolind, also sees a great opportunity in the investment, emphasizing Conferize’s entrepreneurial spirit as a key factor in becoming a global player in the industry:

“During the past five years Conferize has managed to build a solid foundation, and this capital increase will strengthen the company’s ambition of becoming a global company – based in Denmark. The investment ensures that the founders retain a central role, which has been crucial for us. They have a unique insight into the intersection between tech and network building og possess the necessary force to ensure Conferize’s success”, says Lars Kolind.

According to Founder and CEO of Conferize, Martin Ferro-Thomsen, the new ownership structure is an important step towards mobilizing the company’s commercial ambitions:

“So far it is the largest stand-alone investment in Conferize – and a culmination of five years of hard work. Allan and Lars are extremely ambitious people who have both created impressive financial and societal results throughout their careers. Our team consists of startup people who live and breathe for tech – and by bringing solid commercial and operational experiences to the table we become stronger and fit for the next step of our journey”, says Martin Ferro-Thomsen.
